The Atlas Mountains stretch across northern Africa, extending about 2500km through Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.   They are located in south western Morocco. Toubkal (with an elevation of 4,167m) is the highest peak of this range and easily climbed during a trek or even a couple of days trip.
With only a handful of roads travelling over the rugged terrain on foot (just as the local people do), along ancient trade routes and trails that link villages and towns, provides the most rewarding way to gain insight into the ancient cultures and untamed landscapes of this magical land.
In other place of  contrast, Southern Morocco comprises beautiful landscapes, jagged mountains, green valleys of the Southern Atlas, desert, plateaus, sand dunes and oases.
Travelling these various environments requires a mix of walking , travelling by jeep or indeed by ‘ship of the dessert’ (traditional Camel trekking)
Tour options include:

Clients testimonials :

My wife and i enjoyed 7 days trekking through Moroccan villages and up Mount Toubkal, followed by a 4 day tour to the desert and the Todra Gorge with Discover the real Morocco. The complete itinerary was well arranged including an overnight at a beautifully restored Kasbah. They showed us the real Morocco of small mountain villages and warm people.”UK
“Abdou was our guide on a camel-trekking tour. I really enjoyed his explanations about the country and its people. It made it much easier for me to better understand this culture. He also came along with us on the souk in Marrakesh; I felt completely safe, we didn’t get lost and his haggling skills are very impressive! I would recommend a tour with him any time.” David Beattie and Lori Lynch, Canada
“My husband and I spent 5 wonderful days walking in the M’Goun region of Morocco with Discover the real Morocco in May of 2011. Abdou is an excellent and skilful guide and is fluent in English and many other languages. He is very knowledgeable about both the region we walked through and Morocco in general. He kept us entertained with his stories of Berber life. We felt like we were really immersed in the country and culture. The trip was well organised and just what we wanted. We have already referred family and friends to Discover the real Morocco as we know they will have a great experience”. Verena Ziethlow from Berlin, Germany.“
Gayle Slonim, Australia. “Thank you for an amazing 8 days of travelling, laughing, talking, helping teaching, showing us around, giving music and cultural education and much more! Astralia
“Abdou has taken our group on two occasions in the last three years; a tour in the Atlas Mountains and, last year, the Sahara. We have found him to be an excellent organiser and an informed knowledgeable guide who has never let us down. He cares for his group, being aware of individual needs and personalities, has a great sense of humour and is good fun to be with. I thoroughly recommend him to you.” Maya and Roy, Israel.
